History Bakkerij Kamstra
For Almost 70 Years!
Bakkerij Kamstra started in 1953 in the town of Tietjerksteradeel and in the early years operated as a shop with a Artisan Bakery behind it.
Eventually Pieter Kamstra SR. moved the Bakery to Luttelgeest and the tastiest products were baked on the Langebrink.
Brothers Harm and Pieter JR. took over the bakery and sales of the range were expanded, allowing Harm's sons (Piet and Wietse) and Pieter JR.'s son (Peter) to also flourish within the business.
Bakkerij Kamstra started supplying smaller/local supermarkets in the region and soon expanded to market products specifically for Horeca Wholesalers.
This was soon a success and a temporary location was sought to meet the increasing demand.
The Location at Kerkstraat in Luttelgeest (a former gymnasium) was converted into a production site for Pre-cut, Sandwich and Microwave breads to meet end-user requirements.
We soon outgrew our premises and decided to build a Horeca Wholesale Bakery in Wolvega at Grindweg 134 in 1994.
Here, growth continued, leading to the decision to stop baking at Lange Brink in Luttelgeest and focus fully on retail and filled bread for the catering industry.
In 1999, we suffered a major setback the entire bakery burned down, an emergency location was soon found in Steenwijk where we could temporarily resume production, To rebuild our current Bakery in Wolvega.
The recovery got back on track quickly partly due to confidence in our products and the enthusiasm of our staff, which necessitated the construction of a new cold store in 2008
In 2014, we decided to sell the Bakery to invest in its future.
Bakery Kamstra is now part of the Martin Braun Frozen Bakery Division.
In recent years, Bakkerij Kamstra has been fully committed to sustainability and we fully comply with current requirements.
In 2024, Bakkerij Kamstra will already exist 70 years!
Which we as a team are super proud of.
